Kelly and Chris’ wedding weekend was a 3-day extravaganza up in beautiful Santa Barbara this past February. With friends and family traveling from across the U.S., everyone gathered for an unforgettable getaway at Bacara Resort & Spa. Starting with a Friday night western-themed rehearsal dinner at Cold Spring Tavern nestled in the mountains above Santa Barbara, guests had all of Saturday to relax before the wedding. The men (and some ladies!) participated in a 50-person golf tournament at Sandpiper Golf Course while the rest of the ladies lunched in Downtown Santa Barbara. Saturday evening concluded with a private screening of “Father of the Bride” in the Bacara Theatre as guests indulged in a decadent candy bar with the bride and groom’s favorite sweet treats. After a weekend of excitement, the anticipation for the big day was quickly building…and the extremely talented duo from Sargeant Photography, Paul and Leanne, were there to capture it all.
The wedding itself took on a chic, tailored and sophisticated flair (see our design inspiration). As the day unfolded, it was evident that every detail contained timeless elegance with a contemporary twist. Handsomely dressed in a Tom Ford tuxedo, Chris saw Kelly for the first time on their wedding day in a secret location on the lush, private grounds of Bacara Resort & Spa. She was a vision in a Rosa Clara gown with soft, upswept hair fit for the runway.
After their romantic first look, the bride and groom parted ways to head to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Montecito for the Ceremony. Kelly enjoyed a private ride with her father in a vintage 1947 Cadillac Fleetwood Limo, while Chris joined the rest of the bridal party on a Santa Barbara Trolley. When the Church doors opened and the sunlight flooded in, Kelly made a dramatic entrance down the aisle with her father by her side. There was not a dry eye in the Church as these two said “I Do” in a traditional Catholic Ceremony.
After the Ceremony, guests made their way north to the Bacara Resort & Spa for a dinner and dancing reception. The grand Bacara Ballroom was transformed with a classic color palette of pewter, white and hints of black. Amber lighting highlighted the existing architecture of the 23-foot ceilings and candlelight glowed from every surface in the room. Inspired by the clean lines of Calvin Klein, the reception décor made a fashion statement of its own. Tables were draped in textured pewter linens and set with monochromatic collections of white florals in various clear and mercury glass containers by Brown Paper Design. Tall footed hurricanes with floating candles created sleek, clean lines throughout the dining space. The focal point of the evening was a black high gloss dance floor surrounded by luxe ultra-suede daybeds.
Guests danced the night away to the JB Project from West Coast Music and enjoyed a sentimental moment as Kelly danced her Father/Daughter dance to a slideshow of childhood images (a surprise created by her parents!) projected on a 16ft. screen behind the stage. The night ended on the Ballroom Terrace with guests enjoying cigars and after-dinner drinks while lounging by fire pits and candlelight.
We are beyond excited to announce that this wedding is going to be featured in the upcoming issue of California Wedding Day magazine that will hit newsstands in September!
