Eclectic, by definition, is the act of “deriving ideas, style, or taste from a broad and diverse range of sources.” Our upcoming summer wedding that is taking place at the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa’s Red Barn location is eclectic in every sense of the word. The look has evolved throughout the design process beginning with our very savvy bride envisioning a rustic, romantic setting with a glamorous twist on décor. Why not have the best of both worlds? Thus, in August, one of the most unique designs will be brought to life. We wanted to share a sneak peek into the overall style inspiration building upon our Bride’s “wedding branding” from last week.
The overall look will feature contrasting aesthetic elements and the outcome will be magnetic. Envision distressed wood meets cut crystal, flowing chiffon meets sleek concrete, woven burlap meets mercury glass, suede-tufted meets high gloss, zebra-print meets bleached feathers, sleek black meets soft white, and in perfect balance modern meets vintage. The color palette takes on an interesting twist as it defined by textural elements rather than specific colors themselves. For the outdoor dinner reception, distressed dining tables will be adorned with natural burlap runners, sandblasted grape wood, bleached peacock feathers, along with mixtures of mercury glass candles and bud vases filled with lush ivory and blush flowers. The clean, crisp design will be balanced by the natural beauty of raw elements. For the dancing reception, guests will move into the barn-turned-lounge space featuring cocktail-style seating and residential furniture vignettes. Chandeliers and candlelight will reflect off of mirrored surfaces and vintage glass will turn a once rustic setting into a glamorous retreat for all guests to enjoy.
Be Social,
Angela & Erin
