COFFEE TABLE STYLE

COFFEE TABLE STYLING

We love taking a residential approach with event styling - especially when it comes to creating an elevated lounge environment. A fun way to bring in personal touches is through coffee table styling! Meaningful accents like coffee table books, scented candles, and sentimental objects are a reflection of our client’s interests and it’s a unique way to add some personality to the event design. Here are our top tips to style your coffee table like a pro, whether it be in your home or at your next event!

COFFEE TABLE BOOKS

When beginning to style your coffee table, analyze the style and aesthetic in the room. What accent colors are you working with? Is it mostly neutrals? Is it more of a modern look? Take all of this into account before beginning with a foundation piece - books!

Consider available surface space and choose one or more books in varying sizes. For a minimal approach, choose one book as a statement piece to layer accent decor. For more of an eclectic feel, stack books largest to smallest to add some height.

Pick books that represent your personal interests, but also look cohesive with the design of the room. If you’re creating a modern aesthetic, pick a book with clean lines on architecture or a contemporary artist. If you want the room to feel cozier, pick a book with a warm aesthetic for home inspiration.

If your book comes with an outer cover you’re not loving, take it off! Usually these books have a nice cloth-lined hardcover that should simplify your look.

BOWLS + TRAYS

We love incorporating bowls and trays in various sizes. Not only do they add to the aesthetic, but they are functional! These grounding elements keep the coffee table in order. Whether serving as a catch all for matches or mints, incorporating these pieces are a good way to look sleek while staying organized.

CANDLES + OBJECTS

While candles are usually expected, they can still add a very personalized touch. For example, brands like Le Labo allow you to personalize a candle with a short message. Make it even more special by creating a signature scent that will always remind you of a special event or feel right at home. Various objects can add depth and dimension to a surface while also complementing the overall color palette and design direction.

Pro Tip: Add a nice wick trimmer and candle snuffer set for a sophisticated touch. Trimming a candle’s wick is a necessary step many people forget. This helps your candle last longer!

COASTERS

Coasters are not only necessary for protecting the table surface, but they are the perfect accessory. They add a textural element in fun materials such as vegan leather, stone, acrylic, rattan, ceramic and metal. Want to personalize even further? Add an embossed or hand-drawn monogram!

LIVING ELEMENTS

Plants, flowers and/or greenery are the finishing piece that will bring a coffee table to life. Whether a large statement piece or a couple small ceramic bud vases, this added layer will soften the overall feel. Not a fan of big fussy arrangements? Style loose blooms on trays or in bowls for a more casual feel.
